Joy Singh, MS, LCPC

Clinical Director

 

Joy Singh is the founder and Clinical Director of Advanced Midwest Institute for Counseling & Psychotherapy, LLC. Joy was clinically trained through Benedictine University’s Clinical Psychology program and has had extensive experience working with trauma victims at Family Shelter Service, a nonprofit organization that helps victims of domestic violence. At FSS, Joy became a Certified Domestic Violence Professional and went on to facilitate support groups designed to educate and empower victims as well as design and implement training materials on how partner relational violence impacts not only the families but also the community at large. It is through working for FSS that Joy began to utilize her knowledge of family violence to not only help victims but to also help spouses and partners gain insight into how poor coping skills and/or lack of judgment can impact their desire to have healthy relationships.

 

Joy’s specialties include Marriage and Family Therapy, Suicidal Ideation, Anger Management, Trauma (including Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse), PTSD, Infidelity, Codependency, Acculturation and Immigration Issues, Assertiveness Training, Personality Disorders, Depression, Anxiety and Chronic Pain issues.

 

Joy also provides Play Therapy with child clients and enjoys working with teens. Joy has been successful in treating various adolescent life-stage issues such as self-harming behaviors, body image issues, parent’s divorce, anger, peer relationships, assertiveness and self-esteem. Joy is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy which has been found to be quite effective in treating various mental health issues, including Personality Disorders.

 

Joy hails from the Washington, DC metro area and has a background in International Relations with an emphasis on Conflict Resolution and Mediation and has worked for the State Department under the Clinton Administration.

 

Joy is an active member of the Illinois Counseling Association and the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association

 


 Jackie Monfre, MA, LPC

  Associate Therapist

 

Jackie Monfre is an Associate Therapist at Advanced Midwest Institute for Counseling & Psychotherapy, LLC. Jackie received her Master’s degree from Argosy University in Community Counseling. She gained experience working with trauma victims at Family Shelter Service, a nonprofit organization that helps victims of domestic violence. During her time at Family Shelter Service Jackie co-facilitated groups for both adults and children, as well as providing individual counseling services. She also has experience counseling adults with Schizophrenia in an inpatient setting. Through her work Jackie has not only been able to help individuals work on themselves, but has also been able to help them work on their interpersonal relationships.

 

Jackie’s specialties include Anger Management, Trauma (including Domestic Violence), Self Esteem and Assertiveness.

 

Jackie is a lifetime resident of the Chicago-land area. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago where she majored in Psychology and minored in Bioethics. Jackie is an active member of the Illinois Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota.
